We want your visit to be comfortable, empowering and life enhancing. We will have time to answer all of your questions and to provide additional education and advice regarding diagnosis, treatment and preventative health. Our goal is for you to feel better at the end of each visit. Our schedule conforms to the needs of families, commuters and students. We don't expect you to miss work, school or other activities in order for you to see the doctor. Your physical exam, or evaluation and treatment, will be scheduled at a time that is convenient for you and your family.

Who works at this medical office?

Recent studies have shown that patient satisfaction increases when less people are involved in their medical visit. To that end, our office employs only two people: Michael R. Parker, M.D. and his wife Leslie A. Parker, R.N. You might also see Racey, the Island's friendliest Golden Retriever.

What is Family Medicine?

The American Academy of Family Physicians defines Family Medicine as "the medical specialty which provides continuing, comprehensive health care for the individual and family. It is a specialty in breadth that integrates the biological, clinical and behavioral sciences. The scope of family medicine encompasses all ages, both sexes, each organ system and every disease entity."

Michael R. Parker, M.D was certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in 1987, after completing a three year Family Medicine Residency. He was recertified in 1994 and again in 2005. The American Board of Family Medicine was the first medical specialty board to require recertification or continual education and testing of its certified doctors. To learn more about certification by the American Board of Family Medicine, you can read their brochure.
